Description
The Cash Posting Representative within Revenue Cycle Management performs day-to-day payment posting and reconciliation activities and is responsible for ensuring accurate posting processes are followed. This position reports to the Supervisor of Cash Management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of and commitment to the Healthrise Core Values
- Performs daily payment posting activities, including receipt, posting, and reconciliation of all incoming cash payments
- Ensures complete and accurate daily balancing of all incoming cash received versus cash posted to customer accounts
- Performs duties in a manner that promotes accurate, efficient, and timely cash posting and reconciliation
- Documents corrections related to discrepancies, outstanding items, and exceptions in the appropriate system(s)
- Tracks payment activity data and related findings for supervisor review
- Adheres to proactive cash posting practices to ensure timely and accurate application of all incoming payments
- Performs all related cash posting processes to ensure activities are submitted timely, tracked, trended, and reported to key stakeholders
- Provides additional information and support as needed
- Identifies routine issues and resolves or escalates them appropriately
- Maintains knowledge of applicable state and federal laws related to contracts and appeals processes
- Investigates and addresses overpayment and underpayment accounts to optimize reimbursement
- Documents all actions in the patient accounting system
- Cross-trains in various functions to enhance service delivery
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
Required
- High school diploma or Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with revenue cycle functions and systems in one of the following environments:
- Hospital, clinic, or healthcare organization
- Health insurance company or managed care organization
- Banking or healthcare financial services setting
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Knowledge of health insurance and governmental programs and billing processes strongly preferred, including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security Disability, CHAMPUS, Supplemental Security Income Disability, managed care contracts, and coordination of benefits
- Experience in a complex, multi-site environment preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Completion of regulatory and mandatory certifications preferred
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, shared-leadership environment
- Experience using Epic
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while meeting deadlines
Preferred
- Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) or equivalent certification
- Previous experience working with Global Partner vendors
