Companion Caregiver / Sitter (W-2 Position) | Non Medical | Birmingham Area

SteadyCare One is hiring reliable, professional Companion Caregivers and Sitters to support clients in their homes through companionship, supervision for safety, and non medical daily support.

This is W-2 employment, not gig work. We hire for professionalism, consistency, and long term reliability.

Service Area
Birmingham, Alabama, and surrounding areas.

Shifts
4 hour minimum shifts, with some longer assignments.
Overnight sitting available.
Day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts based on availability.

Pay Structure (W-2 Employment)

Tier 1
$14 per hour starting rate.

Tier 1 Plus
$15 per hour after 6 months, if eligibility criteria are met.

Tier 2 / Lead
$16 per hour after 12 months.
Performance based and role based advancement.

Bi-weekly payroll.
Overtime paid when applicable.

What You Will Do (Non Medical)

Provide companionship and emotional support through conversation, engagement, and reassurance.
Ensure client safety through supervision and basic non medical check ins.
Assist with non medical daily routines, such as reminders, cueing, and light support.
Help with meal preparation, hydration reminders, and light kitchen cleanup.
Provide standby assistance for mobility, such as walking support and safety awareness.
Perform light housekeeping, including tidying, laundry, dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
Communicate professionally with the office and or family regarding schedule updates and general observations.
Follow safety protocols and use CPR and First Aid procedures in an emergency, if needed.

Scope Boundaries (This Role Does Not Include)

This position is strictly non medical to protect both clients and caregivers.

No medication administration or medication management.
No taking or recording vitals.
No wound care, injections, tube feeding, or medical procedures.
No Hoyer lifts, resident lifts, or heavy transfers.
No tasks requiring CNA or nursing clinical skills.

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for every shift.
CPR and First Aid certification is required, or must be obtained before your first scheduled shift.
Background check required.
Ability to consistently work 4 hour minimum shifts and arrive on time.
Professional communication, including timely responses, respectful tone, and clear updates.
Reliability standard includes no no shows and no pattern of last minute call outs.
Ability to perform light physical tasks, including standing, walking, and light housekeeping.

Preferred (Not Required)

Experience in companionship, senior support, home care, assisted living, hospitality, or other roles where reliability and professionalism are critical.

Tier Advancement Criteria (Earned, Not Automatic)

Tier 1, $14 per hour starting rate.

Tier 1 Plus, $15 per hour after 6 months, requires eligibility including
Zero no shows.
Strong attendance and punctuality.
Professional behavior and communication.
Positive client feedback.
Staying within non medical scope.
Compliance with company standards and documentation expectations.

Tier 2 / Lead, $16 per hour after 12 months, is performance based and role based, and typically requires
Proven long term reliability.
Ability to support training, mentoring, or lead responsibilities as assigned.
Consistently high client satisfaction.
Strong professionalism and communication.
