Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Generalist YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Generalist will be responsible for the compliance of safety, health, and environmental programs at the site, adherence and alignment with applicable procedures. HSE Generalist is expected to collaborate with employees across the site as well as regional stakeholders. and handle basic activities in Bayer Production systems (SAP and electronic networks). The primary responsibilities of this role, Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Generalist, are to: <ul style="margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0px;"><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Display working knowledge of warehouse, plant and field operations. Promote an environment that continuously meets and improves established Bayer (HSE) Health, Safety and Environment manufacturing fundamentals;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Lead the site HSE Safety Program and drive employee engagement, through safety projects and new initiatives, and timely reporting of safety issues;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Promote continuous improvement of site safety culture through visible leadership;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Drive employee engagement by creating internal audit opportunities with visible corrective action tracking;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Develop operational (hands-on) knowledge and functional understanding of at least three key operational areas across the warehouse, plant and field; </li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Coordinate onsite safety programs and provide mentorship to program owners;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Mentor less experienced Safety technicians and coach employees across the site on basic safety standards;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 5S practices to maintain an environment conducive to work, aligning with the labeling and ordering of tools;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Utilize Focused Improvement (TapRoot) techniques to contribute to the improvement of processes and site safety program(s). Ensure alignment with key HSE stakeholders;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Help keep metrics and other relevant information current on visual boards to drive teamwork and facilitate work processes;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Participate in DDS (Daily Direction Setting) meetings and follow through on safety-related issues;</li><li style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 8pt 0px; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: black;">Shared ownership of all safety related activities at the site including contract safety (CMR);</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Promote an environment that continuously meets and improves established Bayer (HSE) Health, Safety and Environment manufacturing fundamentals;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Support Environmental and Compliance Reporting;<ul style="list-style-type: circle; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0px;"><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">SARA Reporting</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">BaySIS Reporting</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">State environmental reporting and permitting activities</li></ul></li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Ensure all training courses for the site are updated and completed;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Ensure proper usage of MOC guidelines;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Ensure compliance with all hazardous work permits and site environmental permits;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Initiate periodic communication with HSE Technicians and Corporate HSE Team to ensure alignment;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Implement and guide adoption of regional level SSHE objectives;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Ownership of Site Safety Management Reviews;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Promote continuous improvement of site safety culture through visible leadership;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Ensure completion and timely submission of annual VPP report;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Post and file the annual OSHA log information;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">Minimal travel required to attend conferences, trainings, regional support or field activities;</li><li style="margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 0px; color: black;">All other duties as assigned;</li></ul><ul style="margin-top: 0in; margin-bottom: 0in;" type="disc"><li style="color: black; margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: normal; background-color: white; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">Position entails driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned to the individual). Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant).
