Hindu Religious Worker in Non-Pastoral Role

We are looking for a Hindu Pujari (Religious Worker in Non-Pastoral Role). This position is to replace the current Pujari (Religious Worker in Non-Pastoral Role).

Applicants must be of Hindu religion due to religious requirements. Applicant should be able to read Hindu Scriptures with the relevant raags and be literate In Gujarati, Hindi and/or Sanskrit and English. Must have knowledge of all Karm Kands, performing Yagnas, Narrating Kathas, etc is essential.

Ideally the candidate should have carried out this role previously in a SanatanTemple. Duties involve performing the morning waking up of the deities, preparation and performing daily Puja and Aarti, preparation and performing of the Deities Thaal (food offering), reading religious scriptures.

You will also be responsible to ensure that the deities Vastrabhushan are changed once a week and also at other times during the major festivals, ensure that the Bhavan area and Priest’s room is kept clean at all times, maintain all Puja samagri stocks and notify the office in advance of all requirements.

This vacancy is exempt from the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, (SDA) Section 7(II)(e). The vacancy is also exempt from the Race Relations Act (RRA), Equality Act 2010 due to religious requirements. This Vacancy is also exempt from the national minimum wage, as you will be living and working in a religious community. As a condition of your employment you will be required to reside in the temple premises where adequate accommodation exists.
