Laborer/Custodian

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Laborer/Custodian to join our Sauquoit Valley School team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks across our facilities, ensuring that all areas are kept in pristine condition. Your efforts will contribute directly to the comfort, safety, and overall positive experience for staff, visitors, and clients alike. Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of all designated areas, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Conduct floor care activities such as sweeping, mopping, buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to maintain a polished appearance.
• Handle industrial cleaning tasks that may include cleaning large machinery or specialized equipment in maintenance areas.
• Assist with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, trash removal, and replenishing supplies to ensure operational efficiency.
• Maintain cleanliness standards by adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines at all times.
• Document completed tasks and report any maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to supervisors.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma.
• Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial roles.
• Strong knowledge of custodial procedures including floor care techniques like buffing and stripping floors.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and bending or reaching frequently.
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Basic understanding of facilities maintenance practices.
