Manufacturing Inspector

Manufacturing Inspector

If you take pride in spotting the details others miss and know your way around looms, PCBs and aerospace standards, this Manufacturing Inspector role will feel like home. This is a well-established engineering business designing and building complex test systems to MOD and aerospace standards. Their reputation is built on quality — every loom, rack, cabinet and circuit board is thoroughly inspected and tested to meet AS9100 and IPC requirements. As a Manufacturing Inspector, you’ll be central to maintaining that standard on both production and prototype builds.

As a Manufacturing Inspector, your day-to-day will include:

Working to specified customer and internal test procedures

Electrical and mechanical inspection of cable looms, test fixtures and complete test systems

Inspection and test of PCBs, power supplies and sub-systems

Production and prototype wiring loom inspection to drawings and wiring schedules

PAT testing, high voltage insulation and earth bonding, including certification

Liaising with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve faults promptly

Reporting design faults and recommending corrective and preventative action

Producing accurate inspection and test records in line with internal quality processes

To succeed as a Manufacturing Inspector, you’ll need:

Inspection & Test experience within a quality environment

Experience inspecting prototype or special-to-type systems and looms

Ability to read and understand electronic drawings, schematics and wiring schedules

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

A methodical, well-organised approach and the ability to follow procedures

Clear communication skills and the confidence to work with minimal supervision

Basic computer skills

Desirable experience for this Manufacturing Inspector role includes:

BTEC (or equivalent) in Electronics

Quality Control experience

Experience in a similar Manufacturing Inspector position

Understanding of electrical test equipment including power supplies, switching circuits and analogue/digital circuits

Familiarity with IPC 610 and IPC 620 standards

MOD or aerospace background

In return, the successful Manufacturing Inspector will receive a competitive salary, long-term stability, and the opportunity to work on technically interesting aerospace and defence projects. You’ll be part of a close-knit team where quality genuinely matters and your attention to detail is valued.
