Per Diem Psychiatrist – ED, C-L, and Inpatient Coverage | Hourly Rates You’ll Actually Like

If you went into psychiatry for the medicine and not for the ten-hour meetings about committee bylaws, we’ve got something you’ll like. This per diem role puts you where the action is — the ED, the consult-liaison floor, and inpatient psych — with none of the administrative purgatory.

Your day might include:

• Untangling a manic episode from a bad week at work (ED evals & dispositions)
• Helping the med team realize their “noncompliant” patient is actually deeply psychotic (C-L consults)
• Steering the inpatient psych ship through whatever the census throws at you

You bring:

• Board Certification in Adult Psychiatry
• Ability to keep your cool in the ED when everyone else is losing theirs
• Comfort making the call — admit, discharge, or that classic “needs outpatient follow-up yesterday”

You get paid:

• Day Shift ED (8A–8P): $250/hr
• Night Shift ED (8P–8A): $300/hr
• Day Shift Inpatient (8A–4P): $250/hr

No RVU games. No “exposure to leadership” as compensation. Just real rates for real work.
