Employment Terms & Visa Policy This is a 100% remote, full-time, direct W2 position with Bright Vision Technologies. This role is part of Bright Vision Technologies’ in-house Statement of Work (SOW) engagement. The client, end customer, and employer for this position is Bright Vision Technologies — there is no third-party client, vendor, or implementation partner involved. We do not engage in C2C, 1099, or third-party arrangements for this role. BUT STRICTLY NO C2C/1099/3RD PARTY COMPANIES. ALL OUR ROLES ARE W2 AND NO 3RD PARTY BROKERING PLEASE. Candidates must be willing to work directly as a full-time W2 employee of Bright Vision Technologies and contribute to our in-house SOW deliverables. No new H1B sponsorship is available for this role. However, candidates who are currently on a valid H1B visa and require a transfer are welcome to apply. Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Engineer to lead enterprise-wide architectural initiatives, define long-term technology strategy, and deliver highly scalable, resilient distributed systems. This role represents the highest level of individual technical contribution within the organization, requiring deep expertise in system design, performance engineering, reliability architecture, and cross-organizational technical leadership. The ideal candidate will drive strategic engineering decisions, serve as a technical authority across multiple teams and platforms, and combine deep technical mastery with mature judgment, broad influence, and the ability to mentor and elevate senior engineers across the organization. Key Responsibilities<ul style="margin-bottom:4px;"><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Define enterprise-level architectural standards, system design principles, and engineering guardrails that shape engineering work across multiple business units.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems that operate at global scale.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Architect multi-region, fault-tolerant, and globally distributed platforms with rigorous attention to availability, durability, and disaster recovery.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Drive enterprise modernization initiatives, including microservices transformation, platform consolidation, and legacy decommissioning.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Define API governance, data architecture, and service communication patterns adopted across the engineering organization.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Design systems for extreme scalability, availability, and security, including detailed capacity planning and resilience modeling.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Evaluate and select high-performance data storage solutions appropriate to each major workload class.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Lead reliability engineering and incident response improvements, raising the bar on operational excellence enterprise-wide.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Conduct deep architectural reviews and performance audits across multiple platforms.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Guide engineering teams on concurrency, scalability, observability, and optimization strategies.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Design observability and monitoring frameworks at enterprise scale, defining standards for metrics, logs, and traces that work consistently across many teams and many production environments.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Define DevOps, CI/CD, and automation strategy across engineering teams and platforms.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Partner with executive leadership and product management on technology roadmap decisions.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers and contribute substantively to talent growth across the organization.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Drive innovation and continuously evaluate emerging technologies for strategic adoption.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Lead the resolution of critical system-level production issues that require deep architectural insight.</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul style="margin-bottom:4px;"><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Ten or more years of professional software engineering experience.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Proven expertise designing distributed, high-scale systems in production.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Advanced proficiency in Java, Go, C++, or similar backend languages.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Deep understanding of data modeling, system optimization, and performance tuning.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Experience leading cross-team technical initiatives across multiple business units.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Strong expertise in reliability engineering and distributed architectures.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Demonstrated leadership in architectural decision-making at enterprise scale.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Track record of mentoring senior engineers and shaping engineering culture.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul style="margin-bottom:4px;"><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Public technical contributions (papers, talks, OSS leadership).</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Experience driving multi-year transformation programs.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Familiarity with FinOps and large-scale cost optimization.</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Exposure to regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government).</li><li style="margin-bottom:4px;margin-left:8px;">Advanced degree or equivalent industry recognition.</li></ul>How to Apply Would you like to know more about this opportunity?
