Production Accountant (Feature Film)

About the Role
We are an accomplished production company whose films have been shortlisted in the Academy Awards® race, led by producers and executives with projects currently running at major studios. For our non-union feature film, we are seeking a seasoned Production Accountant to oversee all financial aspects of production. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience managing feature film accounting, tracking budgets and expenditures, and ensuring compliance with California (specifically Los Angeles) production regulations. You will serve as the production’s financial leader, ensuring the film remains on budget while maintaining accuracy, transparency, and efficiency throughout the production lifecycle.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership
- Oversee all production accounting functions from pre-production through wrap and post-production.
- Serve as the primary liaison between producers, payroll company, department heads, and external vendors regarding financial matters.
- Implement best practices for cost control, reporting, and financial tracking.
Budgeting & Cost Management
- Create, maintain, and monitor detailed feature film budgets tailored to non-union productions.
- Track expenditures against budget and provide regular cash flow reports to producers.
Payroll & Vendor Oversight
- Manage payroll for cast and crew, ensuring timely and accurate payments in coordination with the payroll company.
- Review and manage vendor contracts, rental agreements, and service contracts.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices and payments while maintaining clear documentation.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a Production Accountant on feature films (more than 5 at least).
- Strong expertise in budgeting, cost reporting, and financial tracking (Movie Magic or similar software preferred).
- Familiarity with Los Angeles production logistics, permitting, and insurance requirements.
- Deep knowledge of payroll software, cashet/P-cards, or a strong ability to learn such systems quickly with training.
- Experience working on international or multi-location productions is a plus.
- Must be able to work as Los Angeles local.
