Job Description Sr. Platform Engineer with Nutanix Migrations Location: Remote Duration: 12 Months Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Platform Engineer to support and lead our migration from Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition (TKGI) to Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP). The ideal candidate will have 12-15+ years deep experience with Nutanix tools and CNCF technologies, and be proficient in installing, configuring, and operationalizing components across the Kubernetes ecosystem. This role will play a critical part in modernizing our infrastructure by designing and implementing scalable, secure, and observable Kubernetes platforms using Nutanix solutions. Key Responsibilities: <ul><li>Lead the migration of Kubernetes workloads from TKGI to NKP.</li><li>Install, configure, and operationalize components of the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform.</li><li>Deploy and manage open-source CNCF components including:</li><ul><li>MetalLB for load balancing,</li><li>Calico and/or Cilium for CNI and network policies,</li><li>Dex for authentication,</li><li>Kubecost for resource usage and cost monitoring.</li></ul><li>Integrate Nutanix platform features with Kubernetes, including CSI and CNI plugins.</li><li>Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure platform stability, security, and scalability.</li><li>Automate platform management using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.</li><li>Implement policy-as-code solutions (e.g., OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno).</li><li>Ensure observability and performance tuning using Prometheus, Grafana, and integrated logging stacks.</li><li>Document architecture, configurations, processes, and SOPs to support platform maintainability and scalability. Required Skills and Experience:</li><li>Proven hands-on experience with Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) and core Nutanix tools (AHV, Prism Central, etc.).</li><li>Experience migrating or deploying Kubernetes platforms in enterprise environments.</li><li>Deep knowledge of CNCF tools, especially:</li><ul><li>MetalLB, Calico, Cilium, Dex, and Kubecost.</li></ul><li>Proficient in container orchestration, networking, and Kubernetes security best practices.</li><li>Strong scripting and automation experience with tools like Terraform, Ansible, Python, or PowerShell.</li><li>Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).</li><li>Comfortable working in a DevOps environment with GitOps methodologies. Preferred Qualifications:</li><li>Previous experience migrating workloads from TKGI (Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition).</li><li>Experience with Nutanix CSI and CNI integration in Kubernetes clusters.</li><li>Familiarity with GitOps tools like Argo CD or Flux.</li><li>Understanding of enterprise authentication systems integrated via OIDC (e.g., Dex + LDAP/Okta).</li><li>Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) is a plus.</li></ul>
