Ortus recruitment are looking for an individual who is determined, patient, and friendly and who is ready to make a difference in the education sector.

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in planning and delivering lessons
  • Engage in 1:1 and group sessions with children
  • Help children with their homework or class tasks
  • Set up and clean the classroom throughout the day
  • Support children with their physical, mental, emotional and social health
  • Communicate with other teachers, parents and all children
  • Carry out administrative tasks like preparing resources for the teacher and help with filing and printing etc.
  • Help when necessary, with after school clubs and activities
  • Support SEN children in groups or 1:1 as well

Requirements:

  • Face to face experience working with children in a classroom setting preferred
  • Experience working with SEN children in a group as well as doing 1:1 work with SEN children (preferred)
  • Experience working with children from Year 1 upwards
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to difficult situations and behaviours
  • Good work ethic and dedication to helping children from different backgrounds and cultures
